The second artifact was brought back by two sisters. Uttering not a single sonar chirp upon their return, they spent the rest of their days silently sitting opposite the opulent glass, backs to each other, happy. By the time they had reached the age when ears begin to crease, visitation had long halted. The intolerable mystery surrounding the thing had become so routine that to live without it would be too...different. Hence, the sisters collapsed into bright red points of light with no witnesses and fell into the opal. In there, on a lovely damp landscape circling a sun of sorts, they write songs and dance and don't really care about anything.
